Features to know about

Made for Real Highway Use: Load Range D with 81-mph Speed Rating

This tire is built to handle long hauls at highway speeds without breaking a sweat. The Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 radial trailer tire carries up to 1,650 lbs at 70 psi (Load Range D) and is rated for 81 mph. It meets Department of Transportation specs, so you can tow confidently knowing the construction and speed capacity are both up to the job.

Smooth and Stable Ride: Radial Construction with Steel Belts and Nylon Plies

The double steel belts and full nylon plies keep this tire stable at speed and smooth over rougher roads. Radial design means the cords run at a 90-degree angle to travel direction—reducing friction, heat buildup, and rolling resistance. That gives you better tread life, improved traction, and less sway when you’re cruising on the highway.

Built to Last: Durable 8-Ply Rating and Reliable Road Grip

With its 8-ply rating and premium rubber compound, this tire delivers dependable traction in both wet and dry conditions. The sturdy sidewalls are made to handle heavy loads without flexing too much, keeping your setup planted even under stress. It’s the kind of build that holds up trip after trip without uneven wear or loss of performance.

Extra Assurance on Every Trip: 5-Year Limited Warranty and 1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee

Durability isn’t just talk with this one—it’s backed by protection that matters. Kenda includes a 5-year limited warranty plus a 1-year worry-free guarantee that replaces the tire at no charge if it’s damaged within the first year. That gives real peace of mind when you’re putting serious miles behind you.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

None of the dealers in the area had or could get the ST 175/80R13 in a load range d. etrailer.com had the tire I was looking for.The price was bit high ,but the delivery time was fast and in order.put them on my 18 foot pontoon boat .I have only towed the boat 2 or 3 times.Handles good so far .

by:

I purchased two of these tires for my boat trailer 5 years ago. They had maybe 10-12k miles on them. Last fall I had one of the tires go bad - the tire cords failed causing uneven wear. It didn't blow out but I was perhaps lucky. Purchased a replacement - same tire. Last month I had a similar cord failure with the other old tire. After that problem was going to purchase 2 new name brand tires but couldn't find any D load rating tires in the 175/80R13 tires. Decided to just buy another Karrier tire. When my mechanic changed out the second tire he said the inside of this one was far worse than the first failure. I was running the tires with 55 psi of air with a max listed pressure of 65 psi. Maybe that was a factor so now running the tires at 60 psi and plan on changing them after 3 years. Not real comfortable with these tires but hopefully I can get 3 years out of them without a failure.

by:

These tires look great and are a higher rating than the stock trailer tires.

by:

Ordered tires for trailer. Rec'd the freshest I've ever seen. Manufacture date was 30 week of 2017. Installed 7/19/17. Does that even add up???? 8 Ply trailer tires hopefully will minimize the tire explosions in the future.

Excellent after 1 year. Multiple 2 hour trips down I95 at 64 MPH and many 20 minute trips to the local boat ramp and no issues.

by:

Just got the tires mounted, haven't pulled the boat yet but don't expect any issues. The are the proper size and fit the load requirements for the boat trailer.

This was the only 13 inch tire I could find with a Load Range D rating. This was the original tire on my tent trailer. Awesome product.

Great tires have held up well going on over a year...think these will last quite a few more

by:

The tires came before I was expecting them.
But
them on a pontoon boat trailer, it is a heavy boat, these tires held it up very well.
They are higher load range than what came out on it, I have found, money spent on a better tier is never money waisted.
Thank you for your help with this.

Easy ordering. Fast delivery. Excellent tires. We are very pleased with these tires. It is a HUGE difference in how well and nice the trailer tows, rides, and tracks compared to the old tires! Huge peace of mind. Installed on a Fleetwood (Coleman) Sante Fe tent trailer. I would definitely purchase these tires from etrailer again.

After a year on the road, still very happy with the performance of these tires.

by:

I haven’t driven on the tires yet but they look good.
Only thing I’m not happy about is the dot number.
The tires are 8 months old. For $[XX] per tire I would have liked to get new tires.
Just a little disappointing

by:

Outstanding customer service and 2 day shipping. You can't it .

by:

I bought this tire to replace the spare on my trailer of 18 yrs. Also bought the wheels with the same tires, now my trailer looks like a newer model. THANKS ETRAILER!

I have only traveled 2300 miles on the tires. With that, driving over the Appalachian mountains, they handle great. Quite tire, seem well built.

by:

Bought 3 of these to replace the original 2 tires + spare on my 2014 single axle travel trailer. Tires perform very well, no problems.

by:

I recieved the trailer tires really fast. They have a good tread design and when mounted look great. I installed them on a very small travel trailer which came out with a load range C. These have a load range D which should be an improvement due to a little more pressure and carring capacity. I am very pleased with the delivery time and looks of the tires.

by:

I bought 2 wheels and 3 tires to replace some old tires on my double PWC trailer. Put both new wheels on yesterday and mounted the extra on an old wheel for a spare. Mounted this to the trailer using spare tire carrier and everything worked out great. The tires and wheels look great and the spare mounted without any problems to the trailer.

by:

Just what I was after. Shipping was fast and tires arrived in individual boxes that were in perfect shape when they got here. Thanks again for another successful purchase.

The tires are working out for me as expected. Great tires for my boat trailer.

by:

Replacement for tires that aged out (>5 years old). Put on a quality rim from etrailer many times. I balance and use new valves each replacement. They are poor as they all needed too much weights to balanced them out - even the tech said wow and checked his machine was ok! I don’t believe there speed rating being that out of wack. I will probably replace sooner and will need to check wear. Do not recommend.

by:

Easy working with etrailer. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable.

Thank you for your review jason! We're glad to hear you've had a great experience with etrailer. Regarding the DOT date code, it's normal to receive a tire that was manufactured in the previous year. Tires don't have to be produced in the current calendar year to be considered new and when stored properly they do not begin to age significantly until they're placed into service. What RV/Trailer are your tires going on?

  • Tire Recommendation for a Trailer Used on Paved and Dirt Roads Size 175/80-13
The best tire for your trailer will really depend on how much time you spend on paved roads versus dirt or gravel roads. At the 175/80-13 tire size, you can choose between a radial tire and a bias ply tire. Radial tires, like part # AM10210, have more flex, better ground contact, traction, tread wear and runs cooler than a bias ply tire. A bias ply tire, like part # AM1ST77 has a thicker sidewall and is ideal for off-road use, but if you spend more time traveling on paved roads, a radial...

  • Solution for Trailer with 13 inch Wheels that Allows for Higher Speed Ratings
Hey Andre, I have an easier solution to allow you to go faster speeds with your trailer that is pretty simple. All you need is a tire with a higher speed rating like the part # AM10210 which is the tire size ST175/80-13 and has an 81 mph speed rating. This means you get the higher speed rating and you don't have to modify the trailer at all.

Having different size tires on your trailer can cause a couple of different issues. The first one being that they have different weight capacities. Yes, assuming you have the clearance between the tire tread and underside of the fender. You'll want at least 3 to 4 inches to allow for the trailer to go over bumps in the road. However, if you plan to keep the 13 inch rim there isn't much taller you can go. The 185/80D13 sized tire # AM1ST79 is only about 0.3 inches larger in diameter compared to what you have now.
